Republicans Using Fear and Smear Tactics
Some are accusing republicans for running a fear and smear campaign when it comes to foreign policy. They say that McCain being tested as a POW was only a personal test not a national crisis test. They say how can he criticize Obama for not being tested on a national level when he hasn’t been tested either. That’s right republicans want you to be afraid of what would happen should Obama win, and guess what, Joe Biden does too. You’ve all heard his comment by now, that should Obama win, the terrorists would test him.
Fear and smear eh? Isn’t that the tactic that has gotten the Obama-Biden ticket where they are? Look at the economy. How are you doing personally? You’re not thriving, but you’re not jobless. You can still earn an income, and when times change, you’ll be able to go buy more 40 inch televisions, and go on vacation again. If you’re jobless you probably shouldn’t be reading this and go look for a job. The economy will rebound no matter who’s president, and probably faster using John McCain’s plan. That’s not what Obama says though.
Here is the fear tactic:
The economy is terrible, but Obama brings hope. The economy is terrible, but Obama brings help. The economy is terrible, and John McCain is part of the problem who will bring more of the same, but Obama will bring change. Be afraid of what will happen to the economy should McCain win. They want you to believe that we will be in the next Great Depression should McCain win, although McCain’s plan has shown in the past that it helps a hurting economy and keeps more people employed. Obama’s plan to raise taxes durring economic turmoil has shown to be detrimental in the past. Look at the Carter administration, double digit unemployment, double digit inflation. If that’s the change you want, vote Obama.
Here is the smear tactic:
Look at Sarah Palin’s wardrobe. How could she wear clothes that cost $150,000. How can she say that she understands the people when she wears clothes that cost so much. You know what, they are right. How could she wear clothes that were bought for her, that she never picked out and never knew how much they cost. Shame on her for donating much of the clothes to charity and possibly to auctions, and returning the rest. She should be disqualified for the position.
Don’t get me started on experience. You know she’s only been the mayor of a small town and governor of Alaska. You know that she left that town with a deficit? Did you know that the deficit was caused by her building a new sports center? How dare she?! Did you know that building qualifies as a capital asset? Did you know that the capital asset will generate future revenues? Did you know that she raised taxes one half of a percent to pay for the building, that will be paid off ahead of schedule? Well why do they need a new sports center? Well did you know that Alaska has one of the highest rates for teen pregnancy, and teen drug usage? For those of you who live in small towns you understand that there is nothing to do but get wasted and have sex. Shame on Palin for giving the kids something positive to do after school.
The difference is that Obama knows how to play politics very well. Democrats have been smearing republicans throughout the campaign. The republicans try to retaliate, but Obama distracts the audience from the negative comments. He says lets focus on the issues, and he talks about issues for a day. Then right back to negative comments, and when republicans retaliate, lets focus on the issues.

You act as if McCain’s entire staff isn’t made up of the same people that smeared him out of the 2000 campaign. That the same person responsible for Palin’s $150,000 transformation from “your average hockey mom” to “Prada Princess” didn’t write the robocall that ended McCain’s run in South Carolina.
I know I’m not going to change your mind. I know you’ve gleefully dove into the cesspool of McCain’s tactics. But tell me, is a message of division and terror what you want? Would you rather look to your family and tell them “I chose hate”?
I will tell my family that I voted for the candidate that wanted to keep American’s free. I made the choice that will stand up for America, not back down to controversy and criticism. Your “Chosen One” seems to have taken plays right out of Bush’s playbook. So far Obama has been the candidate for more of the same, not the candidate for change.
Obama nor McCain has been tested in a national security situation my friend, but you neglected to tell us how McCain has been tested? On the topic of fear and smear, the McCain-Palin ticket has been throwing mud around the whole campaign. The robocalls, Palin essentially telling people that Obama hangs out with terrorist. The whole ordeal with calling Obama a celebrity after he went overseas to meet with world leaders. I believe that was the first volley of negativity from McCain if I’m not mistaken.
The whole tone of his election has been to tear down the other guy. That’s not a way to win an election. It might have worked over the last 8 years, but I don’t think it will work this time. I think that people are tired of it. If McCain loses this election, it will because of the negative campaign that he ran, and not on the issues. Obama has run negative ads but from what I have seen on TV, most of them have been positive.
Of course you are not going to see very many negative ads here in Arizona. This is a red state. Obama is running more negative ads in battleground states. He’s not wasting his money here. Independant studies have shown that Obama is running the same number of negative ads as McCain. The difference is that Obama has twice the budget that McCain does, so he gets out a positive message also.
